Maloka Museo Interactivo

Maloka Museo Interactivo is a science and technology centre at Carrera 68D No. 24A-51 in the Salitre district of western Bogotá, Colombia. The building is built largely underground, and its nine themed halls cover the human body, the universe, telecommunications, biodiversity and petroleum, among other subjects. A 180-degree dome cinema adds immersive screenings. It is the most reliable rainy-afternoon option in Bogotá for families with school-age children.

Visitors move through the halls at their own pace, pressing buttons, operating models and trying hands-on experiments. Exhibits explain physics, biology, engineering and the environment through games and simulations, and staff guides run demonstrations at certain points during the day. The dome cinema shows documentaries and science films on a fixed timetable and is charged separately from the general exploratory route. Most explanations are in Spanish, with some bilingual material.

A typical visit lasts two to three hours, though families with older children often stay longer. Maloka is open daily, typically from 9:00AM to 5:00PM with extended weekend hours, and dome sessions follow a published schedule on the museum's website. The exploratory route costs around COP 32,300 for adults, children under 4 enter free, and visitors over 60 are admitted free on the exploratory route. Crowds are heaviest during Colombian school holidays and on weekends, when school groups and families fill the halls and queues form for popular exhibits. Weekday afternoons outside holiday periods are calmer. The centre is directly outside the El Tiempo-Maloka TransMilenio station on the Calle 26 trunk line, and it is within walking distance of the Jardín Botánico and the Parque Simón Bolívar. Food is available on site, and lockers may be provided for bags.
