Anji Bamboo Sea (Da Zhu Hai) Loop Trail

The Anji Bamboo Sea (Da Zhu Hai) Loop Trail winds through one of Zhejiang's largest contiguous bamboo forests in Anji County, Huzhou, an area also known as a filming location for wuxia films because of its dense green canopy. Access is by bus from the Anji county bus station to Shanchuan township, then a local taxi to the Da Zhu Hai scenic area gate, where an entrance ticket is required. The loop covers about 7 kilometres with 350 metres of cumulative elevation gain over roughly 3.5 hours, following stone and packed-earth paths that climb gradually through dense bamboo groves, keeping the technical difficulty moderate with sustained but non-technical uphill sections. The bamboo canopy provides near-continuous shade for most of the route, and the ground surface stays relatively soft and grippy compared with the granite trails elsewhere in Zhejiang. Landmarks include several elevated viewing platforms built above the bamboo canopy that give a sweeping view across the sea of green bamboo, and a mid-route pavilion that makes a sensible turnaround point for a shorter walk. Small drink and snack stalls operate near the main entrance and at one of the canopy platforms, but there are no true wilderness water sources or overnight shelters along the loop.
