Public Transit
Kunming has a well-developed metro system (6 lines including airport link). Buses are comprehensive but challenging without Chinese language skills. Long-distance buses are reliable and comfortable.
Taxis
DiDi is the preferred option — safer, metered, and with ride history. Street taxis are available but use meters; confirm meter is running before departure.
Car Rental
Car rental requires a temporary Chinese license obtained locally. Motorbike rental available informally in Dali and Xishuangbanna — be cautious.
Walking
