Dongjiang Bay Beach (Golden Beach)

Dongjiang Bay Beach, often marketed as the Golden Beach, sits inside the Dongjiang Port Free Trade Zone on the Bohai Sea coast of Binhai New Area, roughly 75 km northeast of downtown Tianjin. Because Tianjin's natural coastline is a working port and mudflat, the beach itself is entirely man-made: fine sand was shipped in from Fujian province and pebbled sections from Qinhuangdao to create a swimmable strip of shoreline that does not otherwise exist along this part of the Bohai Sea. It is billed as China's largest artificial sand beach, stretching along a gently curving bay rather than a fully open coastline, which keeps the surf relatively mild and the water a murky green-brown typical of the shallow Bohai Sea rather than clear blue. The atmosphere leans toward domestic family tourism and groups on summer weekends, with sunbathing and shallow wading more common than serious swimming or watersports, though rental kiosks offer jet-skis, banana boats and other watersports in peak season. Changing rooms, showers and paid parking make it usable for a half-day trip, and a line of beachside restaurants and seafood stalls along the promenade covers food without leaving the site. There is no lifeguard schedule published for the beach, and visitors should treat any swimming as unsupervised. Access is by road only: there is no direct subway line into the Free Trade Zone, so most visitors arrive by taxi, ride-hailing app or self-drive from Tanggu or central Binhai New Area, a trip of roughly 30-40 minutes from Binhai high-speed rail station.
