Chengdu Teahouse Culture Immersion Walk

The Chengdu Teahouse Culture Immersion Walk is led by a local guide, bookable through Klook, and meets at the main gate of People's Park on Shaocheng Road in Chengdu's Qingyang District. The two-hour walk begins inside People's Park's open-air teahouses, where the guide introduces the social role teahouses play in Chengdu life before leading a hands-on lesson in gaiwan lidded-bowl tea brewing. Participants also watch a long-spout teapot pouring demonstration and a traditional ear-cleaning demonstration, both signature sights of Chengdu teahouse culture. From People's Park, the walk continues to Kuanzhai Alley for a second tea tasting stop at another teahouse, giving participants a chance to compare a busier public park teahouse with a more tourist-oriented alley setting. There is no meal component; the focus throughout is tea, brewing technique, and the surrounding teahouse culture rather than food tastings. Included in the price are the guide, tea service at both stops, and the gaiwan brewing lesson; not included are food, additional tea refills beyond what is served, and gratuities. The walk moves at a relaxed pace between two fixed stops rather than a continuous walking tour, allowing time to sit, drink tea, and practice brewing at each teahouse. English-speaking guidance is provided throughout. Because both stops are outdoor or semi-outdoor teahouses, seating is on plastic or bamboo chairs typical of the setting rather than formal restaurant seating.
