Hengqin Chimelong Ocean Kingdom

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is a large marine-themed resort on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, Guangdong, about 5 km from the Lotus Port crossing and a short hop from Cotai in Macau. The simplest route is the Macau LRT Hengqin line from Lotus station to Hengqin Port, a ride of about two minutes that runs every six minutes and costs MOP 6 to 12 (USD 0.75-1.50). After immigration, which together with the ride takes about 30 minutes, a taxi to the resort costs roughly CNY 20 to 40 (USD 3-6), and the resort also runs buses. Visitors need a passport and either a mainland visa or a visa-free entry arrangement. Park entry is roughly CNY 350 to 500 (USD 49-70), and current prices should be confirmed on the Chimelong website. The resort is known for its enormous aquarium, with whale sharks, manta rays and a large range of marine life, and for the International Circus, a long-running acrobatic show with a dedicated theatre. Other highlights include marine animal shows, a polar zone, a Rainforest Hotel setting and thrill rides. A practical one-day arc is to arrive near opening time, head first to the aquarium and the most popular rides before queues build, then catch the midday shows, and keep the afternoon for the circus and the animal exhibits. Restaurants and food courts inside the park serve Chinese and Western meals; mid-range lunches cost CNY 60 to 120. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons, and mainland public holidays, Golden Week and summer school holidays bring heavy crowds and long waits, so weekdays are strongly preferred. Evenings can be cooler, and the circus has performances that can anchor the afternoon plan. Visitors usually need to leave time to return through the Hengqin Port immigration queue, which can be slow after the park closes. Mobile payment is standard on the mainland, so Alipay or WeChat Pay should be arranged, and tickets can often be bought online in advance to skip the ticket window.
