Access is straightforward: the North Slope eco-bus from the gate stops at the canyon, and taxis from Erdaobaihe Town cover the distance in about 15 minutes. The visit is covered by the multi-day North Slope entry ticket of about CNY 105 plus the eco-bus fare of about CNY 85. A wooden boardwalk loops along the rim for roughly 3-4 km with under 100 m of gentle ascent, and it is the easiest of the North Slope walks, with a technical grade close to a park stroll. The surface is planked boardwalk and stairs with handrails, and exposure is managed by fenced viewing platforms. Shade is mixed because patches of spruce and larch cover the plateau while the platforms themselves are open. Key landmarks are the clusters of pillars on the far canyon wall, the viewing platforms spaced along the rim, and the sight of the river far below. Most visitors complete the full loop in 1.5-2 hours, and shorter out-and-back sections are easy to take where the loop is crowded. Turn-around points are available at each platform, so the walk can be shortened without difficulty. Water is not available along the boardwalk, so a bottle should be carried from the gate or the car park. There are no refuge huts on the loop, although the visitor facilities near the car park offer basic shelter and snacks. In summer the area can be wet and misty, and boards become slippery after rain, so footwear with grip is advisable. The canyon is best combined with the waterfall and underground forest stops on the same North Slope bus loop.
