The city's main history museum, with Han lacquerware, Tang gold and silver, and a gallery on Yangzhou's Eight Eccentrics painters.
Yangzhou Museum covers the history of the area from prehistory to the Qing dynasty and holds some of the finest regional lacquerware in China, as well as Tang-era gold and silver from nearby excavations. A separate gallery shows the work of the Yangzhou school painters of the 18th century, known as the Eight Eccentrics, who were supported by salt merchants and broke from conventional court taste.
The building is modern and spacious. It is a good rainy-day option and pairs well with a visit to the nearby Wenchang Pavilion.
