The archaeological park around the tomb of Emperor Yang of Sui, discovered in 2013; he died in Jiangdu in 618.
In 2013, archaeologists in Yangzhou found the brick tombs of Emperor Yang of Sui (r. 604-618) and Empress Xiao, confirming the burial site of the last Sui ruler, who was killed in a coup at Jiangdu in 618. The site is now a park with a small museum displaying finds, among them the crown of Empress Xiao.
The tomb itself is protected, with an exhibit hall over the chambers. It adds a Sui-Tang chapter to Yangzhou's route and links directly to the Grand Canal, which Emperor Yang expanded.
