A hilltop lecture hall founded in 1048 by the poet-official Ouyang Xiu, with a long view over the Yangtze plain.
Ping Shan Hall was built in 1048 when the Song poet and statesman Ouyang Xiu served as prefect of Yangzhou. He used it as a place to drink tea and compose poetry, looking south toward the hills across the Yangtze. The present hall dates from Qing reconstruction.
Poem-inscribed stelae near the gate tell the story, and the surrounding garden is a quiet corner of the Daming Temple complex.
