Panmen Scenic Area on Panmen Road in the southwest corner of Suzhou's old city, in Gusu District, Jiangsu province, China, brings together three historic structures within a small park: Pan Gate, the Wumen Bridge and the Ruiguang Pagoda. Pan Gate is the only surviving water-and-land gate of Suzhou's ancient city walls, with a land gate and a water gate side by side so that both roads and canal traffic could pass.

The gate was restored in the 1980s, and it sits beside a Song dynasty pagoda, which gives the area its distinct feel.

Visitors can walk along a stretch of the restored city wall, climb the gate towers and look over the moat. Exhibits inside describe the defensive design, including double gates and a walled enclosure where attackers could be trapped. The Ruiguang Pagoda is a seven-storey brick and wood tower dating to the Song dynasty and is one of the oldest structures in the city. The nearby Wumen Bridge is one of the highest single-span stone bridges in the Suzhou area, and it gives a view of the canal, the moat and boat traffic. A small garden with a pavilion offers a quiet place to rest.

A visit lasts about 1.5 hours. The best vantage points are the top of the city wall, from which the moat and the gate can be seen together with the pagoda in the background, and Wumen Bridge for a view along the canal. Late afternoon gives golden light on the gate and pagoda, and the area is rarely crowded compared with the major gardens.

Hours are 08:30 to 17:30 from 10 March to 10 November, with evening hours from 18:00 to 20:00 from 11 November to 9 March. Admission is CNY 40, with free entry for children under 1.2 m and reduced prices for students. The area is a 10-minute walk from Guangji Nan Lu station on Metro Line 1, and it pairs well with Canglang Pavilion and Couple's Retreat Garden in the south of the old town. The gate and wall give a rare glimpse of Suzhou's fortifications, in contrast to the gardens and canal streets more commonly visited.
