The Xijiang Observation Deck Climb is a stone-stair walk up the hillside behind Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Leishan County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou, China. Xijiang is described as the largest Miao village in China, with more than a thousand households of stilt houses. Visitors reach it from Kaili South high-speed rail station by direct bus or taxi in about 40 minutes, and a village entry ticket is bought at the gate. From the village, the climb covers about 1.5 km of stone steps and takes 45 to 90 minutes, with roughly 100 to 150 m of stair climbing, so it is graded easy. The surface is solid stone and concrete steps with handrails in places, shaded by small trees and village buildings in the lower sections but exposed higher up. The route passes between stilt houses and terraced fields before reaching several viewing platforms, from which the whole valley of timber houses spreads out along the Baishui River. The platforms are the usual turn-around points, and visitors can stop at any of them depending on energy and light. Evening is a popular time because the village lights up after dusk and the view changes dramatically. Water and snacks are sold in the village, and there are teahouses and cafes near the lower platform. Because the steps are stone and often worn smooth, caution is advised after rain. The climb is easy to combine with village performances and a walk along the river.
