Back Garden Irish Pub

Back Garden Irish Pub (后园爱尔兰酒吧) is an Irish-style pub on the ground floor of the Mingcheng Hotel at No. 4 Zhengyang Pedestrian Street in Xiufeng District, the central nightlife strip of Guilin in China's Guangxi region. It is one of the longer-running western-style bars in the city and sits within a few minutes' walk of the Bell Tower and the street's food stalls, which makes it an easy stop for visitors already exploring the downtown core after dark.

The crowd is a mix of foreign travelers, expatriate teachers and local office workers and students, generally in their twenties to forties. Dress is casual; shorts, sandals and day-trip clothes are routine, and there is no formal dress code. The atmosphere is relaxed and conversational rather than club-like, with both indoor seating and an outdoor area facing the pedestrian street, so the venue works equally for a quiet early drink and a livelier late evening.

Live music is a regular feature through the week, typically a house singer or small band playing covers in English and Mandarin, with recorded pop and rock between sets. Exact programming changes, so the schedule is best confirmed with the venue on the day.

The drinks programme follows the pub model: draught and bottled beer, imported and Chinese bottled brands, spirits, simple mixed drinks and a limited wine list. The pub opens daily from 18:00 and runs until 02:00, with the busiest period usually after about 21:00, especially on Friday and Saturday nights and during Chinese public holidays.
