Wuyuan Bay is a coastal bay on the northeastern side of Xiamen Island in Huli District, Fujian province, China, ringed by a wetland park, a yacht marina and a newer waterfront skyline. The photographic frame combines three layers: the reed beds, boardwalks and tidal flats of Wuyuan Bay Wetland Park in the foreground, the boats of the marina in the middle ground, and the clustered high-rise towers, bridges and the Egret-shaped pavilions of the surrounding districts across the water. Sunset and blue hour are the best periods: the sky behind the towers holds colour, the towers light up and their reflections spread across the bay, particularly when wind is light. A wide-angle lens takes in the boardwalks and skyline, a telephoto compresses the towers and masts, and an ND filter smooths the water for longer exposures. Early morning offers calm water and bird activity across the wetland, while midday sun is flat. October to April provides clearer air and cooler conditions; summer afternoons are hot and humid, and thunderstorms and haze reduce visibility. The wetland park has wide paths and viewing platforms that suit tripods, and crowds are generally modest compared with Xiamen's central tourist areas, though weekends see more cyclists, joggers and families, particularly at sunset. Entry to the park is generally free, as a municipal public space. Drone restrictions apply in Xiamen, including near the airport approach on this side of the island, so drone use should not be assumed to be permitted. Restrooms and water are available along the park and marina promenade. Paths are paved and flat, so the viewpoints are easy to reach.
