Raffles City Exploration Deck (The Crystal)

The Raffles City Exploration Deck, known as The Crystal, is an elevated observation deck spanning between the towers of the Raffles City Chongqing complex at Chaotianmen in Yuzhong District, positioned directly above the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Visitors take dedicated elevators up to the deck, which is built as a horizontal structure bridging several of the complex's towers, giving unobstructed 360-degree views over both rivers, the Chaotianmen docks below and the downtown skyline stretching back across the peninsula. Beyond the standard observation deck, visitors can add on the Sky Walk, a glass-floored walkway along the building's exterior edge, or the Sky Swing, a seated attraction extending out over the open air, both for an additional fee. A standard visit to the deck alone takes about an hour to ninety minutes; adding the Sky Walk or Sky Swing extends the visit and typically requires a timed-entry slot booked at purchase. The best photo vantage points are the glass walls facing directly down the river confluence, which capture both rivers meeting beneath the deck, and the Sky Walk itself for images looking straight down at the docks. The deck is busiest at sunset, when visitors gather to watch the transition from daylight to the illuminated night skyline, so arriving shortly before sunset and staying through the early evening captures both lighting conditions in a single visit, though this is also when queues for elevators are longest.
