Nanshan One Tree Viewing Platform Skywalk

The Nanshan One Tree Viewing Platform Skywalk is an observation platform and glass skywalk within the Nanshan Scenic Area on Long-Huang Road in Nan'an District, on the hills overlooking central Chongqing across the Yangtze River. The site takes its name from a single old tree that grows near the viewpoint, and the terraced platform circuit around the viewing tower gives visitors an elevated look over the Yuzhong peninsula skyline, the river confluence, and the bridges connecting the two banks. This is a low-exertion activity requiring no particular fitness, suitable for most ages and mobility levels, since the circuit is a short walk of a few hundred metres on paved terraces rather than a hiking trail; the glass sections of the skywalk are a minor exposure for those uneasy with heights but involve no harness or climbing. No special equipment is needed beyond a camera, though a light jacket is worth carrying for the wind at the exposed viewpoints, especially after dark. The scenic area is managed by Nanshan Scenic Area Management, which maintains the platform and glass sections under standard tourist-site safety inspections and posts capacity limits at busy times to avoid overcrowding on the glass panels. The site operates year-round, with clear daytime views most common in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) when haze is lighter, while the platform is also popular after dusk regardless of season for the illuminated skyline view, considered one of the best night panoramas of Chongqing. Weekday visits and early evening arrivals help avoid the heaviest crowds, which build quickly around sunset on weekends.
