Local hazards
What to watch out for on the trail.
Hazard: Wuhu has no real mountains; summer heat and humidity (often above 33 C) are the main risk, so carry water and avoid midday walks in July and August.
Hazard: Paths in Zheshan Park and on Tianmen Mountain can be slick after rain; wear shoes with grip.
Hazard: Mosquitoes are common near the river and lakes from June to September.
Hazard: Taxis are scarce at Tianmen Mountain late in the day; arrange the ride back before setting off.
Hazard: The Yangtze flood season (June-July) can close riverside paths; follow barriers and posted signs.
