Vrelo Bosne is a protected natural monument in Ilidža, on the western edge of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the Bosna river rises from karst springs at the foot of Igman mountain. The frame combines clear spring-fed pools, small streams and waterfalls with a long avenue of plane trees, the Great Alley (Velika aleja), that runs from the park entrance toward the springs.

Morning light is best: low sun filters through the plane trees, creating shafts of light along the alley and highlighting the turquoise water, and visitors are fewer before 10:00. A polarizer cuts reflections from the water surface and deepens the greens, and a tripod allows slow exposures that turn the cascades silky. The best season runs from April to October, with fresh leaves in spring and warm light in summer, while October brings autumn colour to the plane trees and is especially popular with photographers. Overcast days also work well because even light suits the water and foliage. The park is busy at weekends and in summer, particularly on the alley, which is a favoured walking route, so mornings on weekdays give the quietest conditions. Tripods are generally tolerated on the paths if kept clear of walkers, though visitors should check any posted park rules. Drone use is regulated in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is generally not appropriate in a protected natural monument without permission. Entry arrangements and fees should be confirmed at the park entrance, as no exact price is recorded here. A standard zoom covers most scenes from the alley to the springs. The main paths are flat and level, which makes the park among the more accessible nature locations near Sarajevo, and it can be reached from Ilidža on foot along the tree-lined approach. Restrooms and refreshments are available near the entrance area.
