Zilol Baxt Samarkand

Zilol Baxt Samarkand is a family-run guesthouse on Kosh Hovuz Street in the eastern residential quarter of Samarkand's historic centre, roughly one kilometre from the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis and about two kilometres from the Registan. The surrounding streets are a quiet neighbourhood of one-storey homes, gardens, and local tea stalls — a pronounced contrast to the tourist-dense monument zone, though both are easily reached on foot or by a short taxi ride.

The property is built around a sizeable garden that serves as the focal point of outdoor life. Mulberry and apricot trees provide shade in summer, and the hosts maintain a kitchen garden that contributes fresh produce to the meals served on site. The guesthouse has the character of a family home opened to guests rather than a purpose-built facility. Rooms are simply furnished with locally made wooden beds and cabinetry, hand-embroidered suzani textiles, and tiled floors that stay cool in warm weather.

Room options include singles, doubles, and a family room. Most rooms share bathroom facilities; rooms with private bathrooms are limited. Home-cooked meals are one of the guesthouse's main attractions. Breakfast — typically including home-baked non flatbread, eggs, fresh fruit from the garden or local market, sour cream, and tea — is included in the room rate. Dinner can be arranged with advance notice and commonly features a spread of Uzbek dishes, including plov cooked in a cast-iron qazan over wood.

There are no spa, pool, or business-centre facilities. The owners speak conversational English and can advise on both the main Samarkand sights and less-visited sites such as the Hazrat-Hizr Mosque and the Afrasiab archaeological mound. Parking is available on the property for guests arriving by car.
