Old Faithful Inn

Old Faithful Inn is a National Historic Landmark at the center of Yellowstone National Park's Upper Geyser Basin, positioned approximately 100 yards northeast of the Old Faithful Geyser cone. Operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts under concession agreement with the National Park Service, the inn operates seasonally from early May through mid-October. The original Old House wing was built in 1903–1904 by architect Robert Reamer using lodgepole pine logs and volcanic rhyolite stone quarried on-site; the result is a seven-story log-and-stone lobby regarded as the most spectacular interior space in the National Park System. The central fireplace column rises the full height of the atrium, with balcony walkways accessible on every floor allowing guests to look down into the communal space below. Two wings added in 1913 and 1927–1928 expanded the room count to approximately 327 across several categories. Economy Rooms in the Old House have no private bathrooms — shared facilities are down the hall — while Standard Rooms, suites with fireplaces, and geyser-view suites provide private baths and more space. The Old House has no elevator; upper-floor suites require stair access. The Bear Paw Deli provides quick-service breakfast and lunch, while the Old Faithful Inn Dining Room serves buffet breakfast and à la carte dinner. Wi-Fi is limited to the lobby common area; rooms have no internet connectivity, which the inn presents as a deliberate feature of the park experience. Reservations open six months in advance and summer dates fill within days of opening.
