Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park

Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park in Roanoke, Lewis County, West Virginia, surrounds the 2,650-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the West Fork River. The park's centerpiece is the Stonewall Resort, a full-service conference and vacation property operated within the state park system, offering a lakeside lodge, spa, championship golf course, and marina. The lake is one of the clearer reservoirs in northern West Virginia, known for good bass, walleye, crappie, and catfish fishing. Recreational boating is the primary summer activity; the full-service marina rents pontoon boats, kayaks, and paddleboards and provides fuel and slips for private boats. The park's trail system is limited but includes a nature walk along the lake shore and access to overlooks of the reservoir from the surrounding ridgelines. A swimming pool is available to resort guests, and the beach area at the lake's main recreation site provides limited water access for day visitors. The resort's restaurant and bar are open to the public and offer views of the lake and surrounding forested hills. The park is located off Interstate 79 at Exit 91, approximately 1 hour from both Clarksburg and Weston, making it an accessible day trip from much of north-central West Virginia. The Lewis County area around the park hosts the Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts & Crafts Jubilee in September, a major regional craft festival held on the park grounds. The lake's clear water and scenic sandstone-edged coves make it popular for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding in addition to powerboating throughout the summer.
