Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House is the Pearl District outpost of Oregon's most celebrated craft brewery, located on NW 11th Avenue in Portland's gallery-and-design district. Deschutes Brewery was founded in Bend, Oregon, in 1988 and grew into one of the largest and most respected craft breweries in the United States, with its Black Butte Porter, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, and Obsidian Stout achieving national distribution and cult followings. The Portland Public House opened as a full-service brewpub serving the brewery's complete lineup on draft alongside a menu of Pacific Northwest pub food. Black Butte Porter—a dark, roasty porter of exceptional smoothness for its style—is the flagship and the beer most closely identified with Deschutes across more than three decades of production. Mirror Pond Pale Ale, a clean and balanced Pacific Northwest pale, is the approachable entry point for guests newer to craft beer. Obsidian Stout, used as a base ingredient in the kitchen's Chocolate Brownie dessert, demonstrates how the brewery integrates its beers into the food program.
