Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience occupies a five-block pedestrian mall in the heart of historic downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, covered by a 1,500-foot-long canopy of 2.1 million LED lights known as the Viva Vision — the world's largest single LED screen. Free light shows run hourly from dusk until 2AM every night, synchronizing music and animation sequences across the full length of the canopy above the crowd below. This section of Fremont Street was the original Las Vegas gambling and entertainment district before the Strip rose to prominence in the 1950s, and several historic neon signs and classic casino facades — including Binion's, the Golden Nugget, the Four Queens, and El Cortez — still line the pedestrian zone. The Golden Nugget at the eastern end is the most upscale of the downtown casinos and houses a remarkable swimming pool built around a live shark tank, visible from the pool deck. SlotZilla, a zip line attraction at the eastern end of the mall, offers riders the choice between a lower zip (35 feet) and the higher Zoomline (77 feet), which sends riders flying the full length of the five-block canopy in a Superman position — tickets run from $25 to $40 depending on the option and must be purchased in advance on weekends. Street performers — including acrobats, living statues, and costumed characters — set up throughout the pedestrian zone during evening hours and accept tips. The area is generally more affordable than the Strip, with lower-minimum blackjack tables, cheaper bars, and budget-friendly dining options including affordable buffets in the surrounding casinos. The Fremont East Entertainment District, just east of the main canopy, adds an additional strip of bars, restaurants, and music venues popular with locals. Parking is free or low-cost at several casino garages within a short walk.
