Fluxx

Fluxx is a multi-room nightclub at 500 4th Ave in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, California, one of the larger dance venues in the downtown district. The club draws a young adult crowd, mostly in their twenties and early thirties, along with visitors in town for conventions, military personnel on leave and locals out for a weekend. The venue is 21 and over, and the door asks for valid government ID. The dress code is going-out attire: collared shirts and dress shoes or stylish sneakers for men, and dressy outfits for women, with athletic wear, flip-flops and heavily casual clothing typically refused at the door.

The atmosphere is crowded and high energy, with a large dance floor and several rooms that offer different sound and density levels. Music centers on EDM and top 40, with DJs driving the night, and special events or guest DJs sometimes add a headline element. Fluxx operates Thursday through Sunday nights, with Friday and Saturday the peak periods. Cover varies and typically ranges from about ten to thirty dollars, depending on the night, the event and the time of arrival; early arrival or guest-list entry can reduce or waive it. Reservations for tables and bottle service are widely used by groups, and these also tend to shorten the wait at the door. Lines can form on Friday and Saturday after about 10:30 PM. The club's location on 4th Avenue puts it among the Gaslamp's many bars and restaurants, so visitors often start with dinner and drinks nearby before heading in around peak hours.
