Best Hotels in Los Angeles 2026

Find the perfect place to stay in Los Angeles, from budget stays to luxury hotels.

This guide covers 73+ hotels and places to stay in Los Angeles — Hotel Figueroa, InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown and The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles top the list. Every recommendation carries its practical details: typical costs, the best time to visit, and what to know before you commit.

Los Angeles is a sprawling Southern California city of about 3.9 million people between the Pacific coast and the San Gabriel Mountains, known for Hollywood, beaches, museums, mountain viewpoints and some of the most varied food in the United States.

Accommodation overview

Los Angeles has no single hotel district: stays cluster in separate neighbourhoods that are 30-90 minutes apart in traffic. Downtown puts visitors on the Metro rail network and beside L.A. Live, Crypto.com Arena and the Convention Center; Hollywood and West Hollywood suit nightlife and the Sunset Strip; Beverly Hills, Bel-Air and Century City hold the five-star hotels; Santa Monica and Venice sit on the beach; Pasadena is a separate city 10 miles north-east with its own historic hotels; and the LAX corridor offers chain hotels with free airport shuttles. Rates swing by event and season: major conventions, awards season in February and March, and the 2028 Olympics build-up lift prices, while January and early December are usually cheapest. Many hotels add a daily resort or destination fee of roughly $25-$55 on top of the room rate, and hotel parking in Hollywood, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills often costs $40-$75 per night. A car is the default for most visitors, but Downtown, Hollywood, Culver City, Santa Monica and Pasadena can be done without one using Metro and rideshare. The city levies a 14% Transient Occupancy Tax on top of rates.

Budget
$30-$150 per night (hostels in Hollywood, Santa Monica and Downtown; older motor hotels; airport-corridor chains in off-peak periods), plus parking at some properties
Mid-range
$150-$350 per night for most chain and boutique hotels in Downtown, Hollywood, Culver City, Pasadena, Santa Monica and the LAX area, plus destination fees of roughly $25-$55
Luxury
$450-$2,000+ per night at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Wilshire, Peninsula, Hotel Bel-Air, Chateau Marmont, Shutters on the Beach, Regent Santa Monica Beach and similar five-star hotels
Where to stay
Downtown for Metro access and the widest price range without a car; Santa Monica for beach access and walkability; Hollywood or West Hollywood for nightlife; Beverly Hills for luxury shopping and dining.

Booking tips

Get the best deals and avoid common mistakes.

Tip

Compare the all-in nightly price: the US FTC fee rule requires mandatory resort and destination fees to appear in the headline price, and many LA hotels add $25-$55 per night on top of the room rate.

Tip

Budget for parking separately; self-parking commonly costs $40-$75 per night in Hollywood, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, while valet at luxury hotels can reach $70-$90.

Tip

Check the event calendar before booking: Rose Bowl and Rose Parade (Pasadena, January 1), the Oscars (late winter), Coachella-adjacent weekends, and big concerts at SoFi Stadium and Crypto.com Arena raise rates sharply in nearby hotels.

Tip

Choose the neighbourhood before the hotel: traffic can turn a 10-mile trip into 60-90 minutes, so base near the attractions that matter most or near a Metro line.

Tip

For LAX flights, an airport-corridor hotel with a free shuttle on Century Boulevard saves a night of rideshare cost; Hotel June on Lincoln Boulevard is a quieter option a few miles north.

Tip

Book beach-side Santa Monica and Venice hotels well in advance for June to September, when rates are at their highest and many properties have two-night weekend minimums.
