YHA Snowdon Llanberis

YHA Snowdon Llanberis is a youth hostel situated in the village of Llanberis at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd, north Wales. The hostel sits on Llwyn Celyn approximately 300 metres from the village high street and its shops, cafes, and the Electric Mountain visitor centre. The Snowdon Mountain Railway terminus is a 10-minute walk away, and the trailheads for the Llanberis Path — the most popular walking route to the Snowdon summit — and the Snowdon Ranger Path are both within easy reach on foot. The hostel occupies a converted Victorian house that retains its slate-roofed exterior while having been refitted internally to current YHA standard. The communal atmosphere is central to the experience: a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, a licensed bar and cafe, and purpose-built drying and boot rooms create a practical walker's-lodge environment used by a mix of solo hikers, school groups, and families. Dormitory beds in four-to-eight-bunk rooms form the majority of accommodation, with private twin, double, and family rooms available for guests seeking more privacy. All bedding including pillows and duvets is provided; towels are available to hire at reception. The bar and cafe serve hot drinks, snacks, and simple cooked meals in the evenings, removing the need to return to the village after a long day on the mountain. Staff maintain an up-to-date mountain conditions board at reception and stock maps and guidebooks, making the hostel a solid base for planning routes across Snowdonia including the Glyderau and Carneddau ranges beyond Snowdon itself.
