ibis Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street

ibis Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street is a budget hotel at 96 Portland Street, Manchester M1 4GX, in the city centre of Manchester, North West England. Portland Street runs between Piccadilly Gardens and the Oxford Road corridor, and the hotel is within walking distance of Piccadilly Gardens, Chinatown, the Gay Village and the Northern Quarter. Manchester Piccadilly railway station and the Piccadilly Gardens Metrolink stop are each a short walk away, and Oxford Road station and the university district are accessible by bus or a longer walk. The hotel is part of the Accor group's economy ibis brand and is rated two-star in the budget category. Typical rates run from about GBP 55-85 per night in low season to GBP 70-110 in high season, which makes it one of the more affordable options in central Manchester. Accommodation is limited to Standard double rooms and Twin rooms, which are compact, functional and designed for short stays rather than long holidays. Wi-Fi is available, and the hotel has a bar and a 24-hour reception, which helps guests arriving late or leaving early for flights and trains. There is no restaurant, pool or spa, so visitors typically eat out in the many nearby cafes and restaurants, including the curry houses and dim sum restaurants of Chinatown. Service follows the standard chain model, with efficient check-in and predictable room standards, and it appeals to budget travellers, groups and visitors attending concerts, football matches or conferences who want a convenient base without paying central-hotel prices. Rooms can be noisy because of the busy road and the night-time activity in the area, so light sleepers may wish to request a quieter room or bring earplugs. Booking in advance generally secures the lowest rates, although prices increase significantly on major event nights.
