The 102-metre steel Motherland Monument on the Dnipro bluff, with the museum plaza and viewing terraces around it.
The Motherland Monument, a 62-metre steel figure on a high plinth bringing the total height to about 102 metres, stands on the Dnipro bluff above the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War. The plaza is dotted with military hardware displays and sculpture, and the shield now bears the Ukrainian trident. The base is best shot with a wide-angle lens at an upward angle against the sky. Sunset gives the strongest light. The area has had wartime security adjustments, and photographing military equipment on display may be limited. Check current access and opening hours.
