Mary Hotel

Mary Hotel stands on Saparmurat Turkmenbashy Avenue in Mary, the regional capital of Mary Province in southeastern Turkmenistan. The hotel is the primary accommodation choice for travelers visiting Ancient Merv, a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving the layered remains of one of the ancient Silk Road's most important cities, located approximately 30 km to the east. The bus station and shared taxi ranks for local travel are within 10 minutes on foot, and Mary's central bazaar — a good source of provisions and local produce — is nearby. Mary Airport (MYP) lies approximately 10 km from the centre and connects the city to Ashgabat on domestic routes. The rail line connecting Ashgabat and Turkmenabat also serves Mary, making it a practical stop on east–west journeys across the country.

Originally constructed during the Soviet period, the hotel has undergone partial renovation that updated the plumbing, air conditioning, and some room finishes while retaining its functional, low-rise character. Standard and double rooms feature satellite television, writing desks, and private bathrooms. The in-house restaurant is among the better dining options in the city, serving Mary-style plov (a regional variation with distinctive spicing), sheep's head soup on request (a local ceremonial dish), shashlik, and flatbreads from a tamdyr oven. A breakfast package — typically bread, eggs, tea, and local preserves — is included with most room rates. A bar serves local spirits and beer. There is no spa, pool, or dedicated fitness facility.
