Toprakkale Yayla Evi

Toprakkale Yayla Evi occupies the centre of Toprakkale district, 20 kilometres west of Osmaniye city along the E90 highway corridor between Adana province and İskenderun. The property takes its name from the yayla evi tradition of seasonal highland guesthouses, though Toprakkale itself sits at modest elevation on the alluvial plain at the foot of the Amanos range.

The defining landmark of the district is Toprakkale Castle, a medieval fortress on a basalt promontory visible from much of the surrounding area. The castle passed through Armenian, Crusader, Byzantine, and Mamluk control between the 11th and 14th centuries before being fortified by the Ramazanoğulları dynasty under early Ottoman suzerainty, and then gradually abandoned as the regional political centre shifted. The guesthouse commands partial views toward the castle promontory from its garden — an atmospheric backdrop particularly effective in the late afternoon light.

Accommodation consists of double and family rooms with plain furnishings typical of provincial Turkish guesthouses: clean, functional beds, basic storage, and natural ventilation. A garden with covered seating is available for use throughout the day. Breakfast is available on request at an additional charge, typically a standard Turkish spread of tea, bread, white cheese, olives, and eggs; it must be arranged the evening before. Free parking is provided in the garden forecourt.

Toprakkale Castle is under a kilometre from the property on foot. The E90 gives fast access to Adana (75 km west) and İskenderun port city (45 km southeast), making the guesthouse a viable base for day trips in both directions. Osmaniye city centre, with full commercial amenities, is a 25-minute drive east. There are no spa, pool, or fitness facilities; the property is family-run and service is informal.
