Ordu is a Black Sea city on Turkey's northern coast, famed as the hazelnut capital of the world and celebrated for its lush green hills, ancient history, and stunning coastal scenery.
Ordu's climate is shaped by its position on the Black Sea coast backed by mountains that trap moisture from the sea. Annual rainfall exceeds 1,100 mm distributed throughout the year, with winter and autumn being wettest. Summers (June-August) are warm and humid at 23-27°C. Snow is rare in the city but common at altitude on Cambasi Plateau (1,800 m) from December to March. The Black Sea sea temperature reaches 22-24°C in August — swimmable but cooler than the Aegean.
