Important Note
Bars and meyhanes typically serve until 2-3AM; clubs licensed until 5-6AM. Beyoğlu pedestrian areas restrict car traffic at night making it easy to bar-hop. The Bosphorus waterfront clubs (Ortaköy, Kuruçeşme) are separate from the Beyoğlu scene — taxi or ferry required.

Beyoğlu / Nevizade Sokak
The heart of Istanbul nightlife — Nevizade Sokak is a pedestrian alley lined wall-to-wall with meyhanes serving rakı and mezes with live Turkish music. The surrounding Beyoğlu district has bars ranging from craft beer spots to cocktail lounges.
Karaköy
The most fashionable nightlife district for Istanbul's creative and professional class. Converted warehouse bars, rooftop venues with Bosphorus views, craft beer scene, and excellent cocktail bars in a walkable waterfront neighborhood.
Ortaköy and Kuruçeşme (Bosphorus)
The Bosphorus waterfront between Beşiktaş and the bridges hosts Istanbul's biggest and most glamorous clubs (Reina, Sortie, Crystal) with international DJs, celebrity clientele, and spectacular water views. Selective entry — dress code strictly enforced.
Kadıköy (Asian Side)
Istanbul's Asian side offers a more local and alternative nightlife scene — craft beer bars on Kadife Sokak ('Barlar Sokağı'/Bar Street), live indie and jazz music, and a community less impacted by tourism. Much cheaper than European side and beloved by young Istanbulites.

Bova Meyhane

James Joyce Irish Pub
Istanbul's most established expat pub near Istiklal Avenue showing major sports events, serving draught Guinness, Efes, and international beers. Regular live music and quiz nights. Good for solo travelers to meet people.
Klein Bar Kadıköy
Excellent craft beer bar on Kadıköy's famous Barlar Sokağı showcasing Turkish microbreweries alongside international selections. Knowledgeable staff, regular new taps, and the relaxed local Asian-side atmosphere.

Bosphorus clubs (Reina, Sortie) have selective entry — dress up, look confident, and avoid large groups of just men to improve entry chances
Kadıköy on the Asian side is safer, cheaper, and more local for a nightlife experience away from tourist areas
