Mersin is a major Mediterranean port city and provincial capital on Turkey's southern coast, where ancient ruins, dramatic limestone gorges, sea castles and long sandy beaches stretch along the Cilician shore. The province spans from the industrial port to clifftop monasteries, Hellenistic temple cities and the birthplace of the Apostle Paul, making it one of the most historically layered destinations in Turkey.

Mersin has a classic Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Summers (June-August) are long and sunny with temperatures reaching 35-40°C and very low rainfall. The sea stays warm (26-29°C) from July to October. Winters (December-February) are mild (10-15°C) but can be wet and windy. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are the most comfortable seasons for sightseeing and hiking.

Notes: April to June offers warm days (22-28°C), blooming wildflowers in the Taurus and uncrowded beaches. September-October brings still-warm sea temperatures and cooling evenings, ideal for combining beach and ruins. July-August is the high season — beaches and coastal resorts are packed, accommodation prices spike 30-50%, but sea conditions are perfect.
