Iğdır is a small province in far-eastern Turkey, cradled in the broad Ararat Plain at Turkey's lowest elevation east of the Euphrates. The province sits at a dramatic convergence of Armenian, Kurdish, Azerbaijani, and Turkish cultures, with the snow-capped twin peaks of Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı) dominating the skyline and providing one of the most recognisable silhouettes in the world.
Iğdır has no commercial airport. The nearest airports are Ağrı (AJI, 120 km) and Erzurum (ERZ, 330 km). Long-distance buses connect Iğdır to major Turkish cities. Within the province, dolmuş minibuses serve all major towns. Car hire is available in Ağrı city and Erzurum — driving into Iğdır gives the most flexibility for exploring the province.

Transport tips
Travel smarter, not harder.
Book intercity bus tickets online via obilet.com or the bus company website, especially for travel June–September
Carry exact TRY change for dolmuş fares — drivers rarely make change for large bills
For exploring the province, a private taxi for the full day (₺1,500–2,500) is often better value than multiple separate journeys
The Iğdır Otogar is 2 km from the city centre — take a taxi there (₺80–120) rather than walking with luggage
