Yenimahalle Çay Bahçesi

Yenimahalle Çay Bahçesi is a public tea garden within Yenimahalle park in central Isparta, operating through the day and into the late night as the neighbourhood's primary outdoor social space. The tea garden format is a Turkish institution — a relaxed, open-air venue that serves tea by the tulip glass, Turkish coffee, soft drinks, and light snacks to a clientele that comes primarily to sit, talk, and pass time rather than to eat a meal. Türk Çayı (Turkish tea) is brewed in a traditional double-boiler samovar and served continuously throughout the day; the Isparta style is dark red and strong, poured into small curved glasses that allow the colour to be appreciated. Türk Kahvesi (Turkish coffee) is prepared to order, the customer specifying the sugar level: sade for none, az şekerli for a little, orta for medium, or çok şekerli for sweet. In the evenings, nargileh (hookah) pipes are set up and have become a popular draw for younger visitors who arrive after dinner for a social session among friends. Simit and small pastries are available for snacking. The park setting provides the tea garden's defining character — mature trees, garden chairs, ambient birdsong during the day transitioning to evening park lighting at night. In summer the garden stays open until midnight. The clientele spans all generations: retirees playing backgammon in the morning, families in the afternoon, and young groups in the evenings. No alcohol is served.
