Isparta Rose Museum (Gül Müzesi)

The Isparta Rose Museum (Isparta Gül Müzesi) is a small but well-curated free attraction near the city centre dedicated to the rose oil industry that has defined Isparta Province for over a century. Turkey is one of the world's largest producers of Rosa damascena rose oil, and Isparta Province accounts for the overwhelming majority of domestic output. The museum presents this story through a combination of historical photographs, traditional harvesting and distillation equipment, product displays, and informational panels. Exhibits trace the introduction of oil rose cultivation to the region in the late 19th century, the development of distillation cooperatives, and the evolution of production methods to the present day. A reconstructed harvest and distillation sequence using period tools gives visitors a tangible sense of the labour involved in producing a kilogram of rose oil — which requires approximately 3,000 to 4,000 kilograms of hand-picked petals. The museum also showcases the range of rose-derived products manufactured in Isparta: essential oil, rose water, rose jam, rose-infused soaps, and cosmetics. A small gift section allows visitors to purchase these products on site at reasonable prices. Informational text is presented in both Turkish and English, making the museum accessible to international visitors. A visit takes 45–90 minutes at an unhurried pace. The museum is conveniently situated near Isparta's central Rose Garden, where a variety of ornamental and oil roses bloom from May through June, providing a pleasant complement to the indoor exhibits.
