Mozaik Konukevi (Mosaic Guesthouse)

Mozaik Konukevi — known in English as the Mosaic Guesthouse — is a small family-run property in the old quarter of Antakya, the ancient city of Antioch on the Orontes. The guesthouse is situated within 400 metres of the Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar), Antakya's historic covered market street, and approximately 1 kilometre from the Hatay Archaeology Museum, home to one of the world's most important collections of Roman floor mosaics. The Asi (Orontes) River is a 10-minute walk to the west.

The property occupies a restored Ottoman-era stone house typical of the Antakya old quarter, with traditional stone-lattice (kafes) windows, internal courtyard, and compact multi-level layout. The building's character reflects Antakya's distinctive layered identity — a city that has been home to Arab Christians, Alevi Arab communities, Syriac-speaking families, and Turkish settlers across successive centuries, and whose food, music, and architecture carry traces of each. The guesthouse is owner-managed, and hosts are a useful resource for navigating this cultural depth.

Accommodation options include single rooms, double rooms, and dormitory beds, making it one of the more affordable multi-category sleep options in the historic centre. Some rooms have private en-suite bathrooms; others share facilities on the landing. Rooms are simply furnished with local textiles, wooden furniture, and adequate air conditioning. A shared kitchen is available for self-catering. A home-cooked Antakya breakfast — typically featuring humus, spiced eggs, local flatbread, fresh herbs, and tahini-based dishes — is available at extra cost and reflects the kitchen's strong regional character.

A common room stocked with local guidebooks and historical maps serves as the guesthouse's social hub. The hosts can arrange introductions to local walking tour guides and advise on visiting Titus Tunnel, the Harbiye waterfall valley, and the nearby Saint Peter's Church cave.
