Kuşadası's bazaar quarter, clustered behind the harbour along and around Barbaros Hayrettin Bulvarı, is the province's main tourist shopping hub and one of the busiest resort bazaars on the Aegean coast. Hundreds of shops sell leather jackets, bags, and belts; carpets and kilims; hand-painted ceramics; evil eye (nazar) jewellery and ornaments; textiles; gold and silver jewellery; and every variety of souvenir. The area is geared almost entirely to the large cruise and resort tourist market, and opening prices are set accordingly high. Bargaining is expected and essential — the first price quoted is typically 50–100% above what a seller will accept. Quality varies enormously, especially in carpets and leather goods; stick to established shops with clear return policies. Cruise ship arrivals (usually mornings) drive the highest prices and hardest sales pressure; visiting in the late afternoon yields calmer conditions and more flexible pricing.
