Dilek Peninsula is a forested, mountainous finger of land at the mouth of the Büyük Menderes delta, protected partly because it borders a military zone that has kept development off much of the coastline. The draw is a string of small coves and beaches reached by a single road running along the spine of the peninsula, backed by pine forest on the slopes of Samsun Dağı. It's a nature and swimming day rather than a ruins or culture day, and the most remote beaches require the longest walk in, which keeps them quieter than the coves nearer the entrance.

  • Kavaklıburun - the beach closest to the park's tip, reached by the longest drive/walk in and correspondingly the quietest
  • Samsun Dağı forest trails - pine-covered slopes rising straight from the coast, with the peninsula's wild boar and occasional wildlife signage
