Barhal Pansiyon (Altıparmak)

Barhal Pansiyon sits in the village of Barhal, known formally as Altıparmak, in the upper reaches of the Barhal River valley within Yusufeli district. The village stands at around 1,200 metres elevation on the southwestern fringe of the Kaçkar Mountains — one of Turkey's finest alpine trekking regions — and the pansiyon serves as one of the key staging and resupply points for hikers completing or beginning the classic Kaçkar circuit.

Barhal is a small traditional settlement with stone and timber houses typical of northeastern Anatolia, and the surrounding landscape is characterised by dense mixed forest giving way to subalpine meadows and rock faces above 2,000 metres. The village was historically part of a network of Georgian-era cultural sites; the tenth-century Barhal Church (Parhal Kilisesi), a rare surviving example of Georgian ecclesiastical architecture, stands a short walk from the village core.

What distinguishes it from urban hotels is the food: home-cooked meals using ingredients from the family's garden and local producers form the basis of a half-board option that most trekkers take advantage of.
