Çıldır Balıkçı Evi (Fisherman's House)

Çıldır Balıkçı Evi, known in Turkish as the Fisherman's House, is a lakeside guesthouse positioned directly on the shores of Çıldır Lake in Ardahan province, northeastern Turkey, approximately 45 kilometres northeast of Ardahan city. Çıldır Lake is the largest lake in northeastern Turkey and one of the country's most dramatically atmospheric destinations, sitting at an elevation of approximately 1,959 metres above sea level on a high volcanic plateau that approaches the Georgian border. The guesthouse draws its identity from the traditional fishing culture of Çıldır Lake, where fishing for freshwater species including the locally prized İnci kefali (pearl mullet) has formed part of community life for generations. Double and family rooms are available, each fitted with central heating — essential for the extreme cold of the Ardahan plateau, where temperatures regularly fall below -20°C in winter and nights remain noticeably cool even in summer. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and fresh local fish dishes are served as a distinctive feature of the property's dining offer, prepared from the lake's daily catch.
