Climate Overview

Antalya has a typical hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen Csa) with long, hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 35-40°C in July and August, while winters are mild with temperatures rarely dropping below 5°C. The swimming season extends from May through October, with the warmest sea temperatures in August at around 28°C.

🌸 Spring

Mar-May

Ideal spring conditions with wildflowers blooming across the Taurus Mountains, comfortable temperatures perfect for hiking and sightseeing, and the beaches beginning to warm up. April and May are arguably the best months to visit.

Tips: Pack light layers as mornings and evenings can be cool; excellent for Lycian Way hiking; April can bring brief rain showers

Jun-Aug

Peak tourist season with guaranteed sunshine and hot temperatures often exceeding 38°C inland. Beach conditions are perfect with sea temperatures reaching 27-28°C, but heat can be oppressive for sightseeing at archaeological sites.

Tips: Book accommodation months in advance; visit ruins early morning or late afternoon to avoid heat; stay hydrated; sunscreen SPF 50+ essential

Sep-Nov

September is excellent with summer weather but smaller crowds; October remains warm with sea temperatures above 23°C and pleasant hiking conditions. November sees increasing rain and cooler temperatures.

Tips: September is often considered the best month overall; sea still warm for swimming through October; pack a light jacket for evenings in October-November

Dec-Feb

Mild but noticeably wetter and cooler, with rain common particularly in December and January. The mountains behind Antalya receive snow, offering a dramatic backdrop, but most beach facilities are closed.

Tips: Great for experiencing authentic local life without tourists; ruins and museums are uncrowded; visit the ski resort at Saklıkent (possible on day trip); bring a waterproof jacket
