Konyaaltı Beach is a long pebble beach on the western side of Antalya, on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, with the Taurus Mountains rising directly behind the shoreline. It stretches for several kilometres below the cliffs of the city centre and is considered the main city beach, with a clear sea and a dramatic mountain backdrop that is its principal draw. The shore is made of smooth pebbles rather than sand, so water shoes are useful, and the water becomes deep fairly quickly. A broad promenade runs along the back of the beach, with cafes, restaurants, shops, playgrounds and cycle paths, and sections of the shore are occupied by beach clubs that rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Municipal sections are free to use. The Beach Park at the eastern end adds landscaped gardens, water features and open space. Visitors spend two to four hours here, swimming, walking the promenade and watching the light on the mountains. Photographers look for the mountain and sea together, most easily from the promenade near the park and from the eastern end looking west. Morning is calm and the water is clearest, while sunset brings warm colours on the mountain ridges. Crowds are heaviest on summer weekends and during midday, when beach clubs fill and the pebbles heat up, so earlier hours are better for a quiet swim. Public access is free and the beach is open all day, with club fees for sunbeds varying by venue. The beach is reached by Heritage tram T1 toward its western end, then a walk down to the shore, or by bus along Konyaaltı Caddesi. Facilities include showers, changing cabins and lifeguard posts in the managed areas, and the long promenade is also popular for evening walks, jogging and cycling. The beach combines easily with a visit to Kaleiçi or Karaalioğlu Park on the same day.
