The twin ceremonial terraces flanking the summit tumulus of Mount Nemrut, where the colossal statues of Antiochus I, Zeus-Oromasdes, Apollo-Mithras, Tyche-Commagene and Herakles once sat enthroned with guardian eagles and lions. Their massive toppled heads now rest on the ground at human height, making them the most photographed images in the region. The East Terrace also holds a famous carved lion horoscope thought to mark the king's coronation date.

  • The two terraces are linked by a path around the tumulus that takes about 15 minutes to walk
  • Do not climb on the statues or tumulus; the loose stones are fragile and protected
