Adana is a major province and city in southern Turkey, set on the fertile Çukurova plain where the Seyhan River flows toward the Mediterranean. The finest time to visit, with warm sunny days (March 20C rising to May 28C), green Cukurova countryside, and the Orange Blossom Carnival (Portakal Cicegi Karnavali) filling Adana's streets in late March or April. Rainfall tapers off through the season.
Summer
Months: Jun-Aug
Intensely hot and humid, with July-August highs of 35-40C and warm nights rarely below 23C. The plain bakes and the famous Adana kebab is best enjoyed late in the evening. Many locals head to the cooler Toros (Taurus) Mountains and nearby coast.
Fall
Months: Sep-Nov
September is still hot, but October and November bring relief with warm days (October around 28C, November around 21C) and the return of some rain. Autumn is an excellent, comfortable time for sightseeing across the Cukurova.
Winter
Months: Dec-Feb
Mild but wet, with January highs around 13-15C, cool nights near 5-6C, and the year's heaviest rainfall in December. Frost is rare on the plain, though the surrounding Taurus Mountains see snow. The city stays lively and inexpensive.
