Adıyaman is a province in Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, set in the upper Euphrates basin between the Taurus foothills and the Mesopotamian plains. It is best known as the gateway to Mount Nemrut (Nemrut Dağı), the UNESCO-listed mountaintop sanctuary where colossal stone heads guard the 1st-century-BC tomb of King Antiochus I of Commagene. The province also holds Roman bridges, royal tumuli, and rock-cut ancient cities, alongside a distinctive cuisine that includes the local çiğ köfte and Adıyaman tava.

Check rates on Booking.comBooking tips
Get the best deals and avoid common mistakes.
For a Mount Nemrut sunrise, sleep in Karadut village (about 12 km below the summit) or at the closest Yandere motel rather than driving the 87 km from Adıyaman city in the dark
The provincial capital was badly hit by the February 2023 earthquakes, so book recently built or confirmed-open hotels such as Ramada by Wyndham, Park Dedeman or Rabat Resort, which list current 2025-2026 availability
Karadut and Kahta guesthouses are small and fill in the May-October peak; reserve a week or two ahead through Booking.com or by phoning the property directly
Most Nemrut-area hotels (Kommagene, Euphrat Nemrut, Hotel Nemrut Kahta) run their own minibus tours to the summit for an extra fee, often cheaper than a separate operator when combined with a room
City 4-star hotels offer the best value midweek; weekend rates rise with weddings and regional events at Park Dedeman and Rabat Resort
Karadut and summit-area lodges are seasonal and can close or run reduced service in winter when the Nemrut summit road is shut by snow, so confirm opening before a December-March trip
