Ağrı is an eastern Anatolian province dominated by the iconic silhouette of Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı), Turkey's highest peak at 5,137 m and the legendary resting place of Noah's Ark. The district town of Doğubayazıt serves as the main tourism hub, home to the breathtaking İshak Paşa Sarayı palace, while the province spreads across high plateau, Urartian ruins, volcanic landscapes, and a rugged frontier with Iran and Armenia.
Ağrı province is connected to the rest of Turkey by air (Ağrı Airport, AJI), intercity bus, and road. The E80 highway runs east–west through the province, linking Ağrı city to Erzurum in the west and to Doğubayazıt and the Iranian border in the east. Within the province, dolmuş minibuses are the main local transport between towns. Doğubayazıt (the main tourist hub) is 95 km south of Ağrı city on the D975 road. There is no railway service to Ağrı province.

The Ağrı otogar (bus terminal) is the hub for all intercity and dolmuş services; book at least a day ahead for Ankara/Istanbul buses.
Dolmuşes to Doğubayazıt run roughly every 30–60 minutes from 07:00–18:00; services reduce significantly after 18:00.
Rent a car in Erzurum if planning to drive around the province — Ağrı city has very limited rental options.
The D975 road from Ağrı to Doğubayazıt is well-maintained in summer but can be icy November–April.
For İshak Paşa Palace: taxi from Doğubayazıt, then walk or taxi to palace gate (6 km east of town).
