The town of Moshi at the base of Kilimanjaro is 80 km east of Arusha. A day trip combines the scenic drive through coffee and banana farmland with exploration of Moshi town, visits to coffee farm cooperatives, and views of Kilimanjaro (cloud permitting). For serious climbers, Moshi is the base town and many operators run introductory climb orientation visits.
