The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, often described as Africa's Garden of Eden. The 260 km² crater floor is home to approximately 25,000 large animals including the Big Five, and has one of the highest densities of lions in Africa. A day trip from Arusha (3-hour drive) is possible.
