Engelberg is an Alpine resort with a Benedictine monastery, below the 3,238 m Titlis summit with its rotating Rotair gondola, ice cave and suspension bridge.
Engelberg lies in a high Alpine valley south of Lucerne, reached by the Zentralbahn rack railway. The Benedictine abbey is in the village. A multi-stage cable car leads to the Titlis summit, with the rotating Rotair gondola in the last stage. At the top lies the Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge and a glacier cave. A long day trip but doable.
